1. Establish the source

Start with the original document, its publisher, its date, and its scope. Prioritize primary records and identifiable reporting. Preserve links so readers can examine the source rather than relying on our summary.

2. Separate the kinds of statement

A documented fact describes what the cited record establishes. An attributed claim identifies who made an allegation or assertion. Analysis is an editorial interpretation. A claim being published by a source does not independently establish that it is true.

3. Look for corroboration and gaps

Compare independent sources when available, account for contradictions, and identify limitations. Dates, locations, and the scope of a report matter. A source briefing must not imply that an older report describes current conditions.

4. Make aggregation transparent

Latest from the field collects external headlines and brief summaries with source attribution and links to the original publisher. Automated feeds are discovery tools. Inclusion does not mean that this publication has independently verified every report. Connection status is shown separately.

5. Label translation honestly

English is the primary edition. Machine-translated articles are labeled as not editorially reviewed, with a link to the English original and a correction mechanism. Quoted language must be marked when translated. A reviewed label should only appear after a human editorial review.

6. Minimize exposure of sources

Do not send confidential documents, names of vulnerable people, or sensitive identifying information through the corrections form. This site does not currently provide a secure or encrypted tip channel. Source protection requires careful handling beyond a public web form.
